Rusty Yates
RUSTY YATES
At 17 years old he taught himself how to play the piano. At 19 Years old he took a Greyhound bus from Louisiana to Las Vegas, Nevada only $90 in his pocket. When he got to Vegas, he cleaned bathrooms and swept floors in casinos until he could get his chance. Well, he got his chance, and he has never looked back. Rusty’s bands have played all over the United States and Canada, Including, the main show rooms in some of the biggest Casino’s in Vegas. He is a singer, song writer, performer, and a player of different instruments. Take Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald and roll them into one and you get Rusty Yates. He has entertained with the likes of "Tracy Lawrence", "Doug Stone", "Jan and Dean", "The Coasters", "Toby Keith", "Waylon Jennings", The 1950's Group "The Ink Spots", "David Allen Coe", and "George Jones". "Joe Jackson" of "Jackson Records" wanted Rusty to sign with his record label after hearing him sing. Before "Patrick Swayze" decided not to do the movie, Rusty had recorded the single for "Dirty Dancing II". Rusty has written many songs, including the song "Every Man Needs A Woman", Which "Wayne Toups" of Louisiana put out on his "Back To The Bayou" CD. It is obvious the desire and grit it takes to do everything Rusty Yates has done in his music career, However...he does come from a long line of musical family that he can't deny. Rusty grew up singing in church where his grandfather was a preacher. Rusty's father "Charles Yates" was and still is an accomplished gospel singer. Rusty's father sang gospel music as tenor with the "Speer Family", "The Masters Five", and sang with "Elvis Presley" in some of his last concerts. Rusty was actually named after gospel singer "Rusty Goodman" of "The Happy Goodman’s." Rusty’s Aunt "Carolyn Yates", also known by her stage name "Carol Lee", wrote the song "I Wont Mention It Again". "I won’t mention it again" was performed by "Ray Price", and in 1971 spent 13 consecutive weeks at #1 on the country charts. Most recently, "Reba McEntire" recorded "I Won’t Mention It Again" on her greatest hits CD . I could go on and on about Rusty Yates and his family’s musical accomplishments, but Rusty's voice, his songs, and his performance speaks for itself.
